HYPERTENNIS IS THE PROTAGONIST OF ANDREA CANDUSSO'S INTERVIEW ON TENNIS MAGAZINE ITALIA.
Tennis Magazine Italia recently published an in-depth interview with Andrea Candusso, founder of HyperTennis and Racquet Technician for Jannik Sinner.
The article, titled “Andrea Candusso: Jannik Sinner’s Mechanic,” offers a detailed look at the crucial role that technology and scientific analysis play in modern tennis.
The Innovative Vision of HyperTennis
In the interview, Candusso explains how HyperTennis was born out of the need to fill a gap in the tennis world — the lack of objective data to evaluate player performance and optimize equipment.
The HyperTennis system, incubated at the Politecnico di Torino, uses a set of fixed cameras and wearable sensors to collect precise and scientifically relevant data.
As highlighted in the article: “HyperTennis allows you to measure everything — the speed of the arm, the racket arm, and much more. It’s rewarding because it brings me ‘back on court’ from a technical point of view: choosing the equipment now comes from evaluating the athlete’s technical motion. It’s a video analysis powered by artificial intelligence algorithms.”
From the Elite to the Club: HyperTennis for Everyone
Although the project was initially developed to meet the needs of elite players, Candusso emphasizes in the interview that HyperTennis is a valuable tool for players of all levels. The system makes it possible to:
• Identify the most suitable equipment for each player
• Prevent injuries through data-driven technical decisions
• Optimize technical development processes
• Provide coaches with objective insights to guide training
The Sinner Case: When Technology Makes the Difference
A concrete example of HyperTennis’ effectiveness comes from the work with Jannik Sinner. Candusso explains: “At the time, I was the equipment technician at the Piatti Academy in Bordighera. Since Jannik was one of the top athletes, I began working with him — first to monitor his setup, and later to address any technical issues.”
Through HyperTennis testing, it was possible to scientifically fine-tune the Italian champion’s equipment, contributing to his rise to the top of world tennis. We are proud to see the scientific and technological value of our approach recognized through this feature.
